[Profiles: Legends in their fields]

This Web Exhibition, ‘Profiles: Legends in their fields’, is Self-Help News contribution to Black History. .

 

Imagine a social-political-military model of the most challenging scenario, where liberal democracies were things of the long past. If you can, imagine that, how do you visualise yourself, family and friends? Did you survive? If you did, for how long and what did you do to survive?

 

We seem to have among us petty ‘cultural nationalists’, ‘internationalists’, ‘assimilatists’, ‘urbanists’ and ‘ruralists’, ‘regenerationists’, veiling themselves as experts and effective leaders. Some of their actions seem to be creating and nurturing ‘personality cult and elitism’ among themselves, in face of deteriorating social fibres. They have not demonstrated, however, steadfastness, patient, courage and consistency, to make real sacrifices to achieve their professed agenda.

 

In this series of Web Exhibitions, Self-Help News profiles some of our ‘Human Giants’ of the past and present, who have made and are making sacrifices to bring about real changes in their peoples’ difficult circumstances.

 

 History has bourn, and is bearing, witness to the actions taken and is being taken by the exhibited individuals, men and women, when faced by common enemies  – invasions, injustices, oppressions, discriminations, human and civil rights violations, disunity, war crimes, starvations, threat to, and loss of, liberties and lives. Without exception, our giants’ solution to their experiences is RESISSTANCE.

 

 It now begs the question, ‘who gains most by a weak and emasculated ‘black-led’ commercial, economic, voluntary and community development sector in Europe, Africa, the Americas, poor Asia and other areas of our Planet, whose peoples are referred to as ‘developing nations’.

 

In embracing RESISTANCE, our ‘giants’’ names are recorded in History’s indelible pages. Through their visions, courage, patience, consistencies, applications and care for the masses of humanity, our historical giants were and are able to lead their peoples to retrieving and retaining their dignity, self-respect, liberty and fraternity.

 

Though our listed ‘giants’ lived and operated on continents far apart, their actions  and commitments to human welfare were and are linked inextricably by the matrix of space and time.

 

Self-Help News, therefore, solute the warriors of Social Justice of the past, present and those yet to come. ‘FREEDOM AND CHOICE’ are essential to civilised human existence.   When this is challenged, the indomitable Spirit of Truth and Resistance come to the fore. Weapons of Mass Destructions (WMD) are incapable of impeding, materially, the forward march of Humanity, in taking ownership of free will and liberty.
